One thing I learned while living abroad is that the tiniest moments can be the most treasured ones. It may be a nice chat at the grocery store, a helping hand for handling my baggage or a lovely letter. One of my favourite moments is this one:
On a beautiful day I walked across Brooklyn Bridge heading into Manhattan and one could already see that there would be a perfect sunset. I simply wanted to stop time, snatch my family and friends and share this moment with them. Sadly, they were thousands of miles away. I wouldn’t describe that feeling as being homesick, but I missed my beloved and my native culture a little bit.
A few yards further I found the sticker saying „Alles wird gut“ (German for ‚Everything will be alright‘). And you know what? Everything WAS alright. Sometimes it only needs a small nudge to create a beautiful memory.
XOXO
