Fruity nut bread


Never do we receive more visitors or visit more than during the holiday season and through the change of years. But what to serve your guests or to bring to the party? What can you conjure up when someone surprises you and shows up on your door step? Nothing. Because with this bread you’ve got something for every time of day, that you only have to pull out of the cupboard. It’s suitable as breakfast bread, cake or whatever you need.


1/3 cup Orange Juice (from 1-2 Oranges)

1tbsp grated orange zest

2/3 cup Butter Milk

6tbsp unsalted Butter, molten

1 Egg

2 cups Flour

1 cup Sugar

1tsp Salt

1-1/4 tsp Baking Powder

1-1/2 cups / 6 oz. Cranberries, chopped

1/2 cup Pecannuts, chopped (Walnuts work fine as well)

Preheat oven at 375°F, butter baking-tin.

Mix flour, sugar, salt and baking powder in a big bowl; in a smaller one stir orange juice, zest, butter milk, molten butter and egg. Stir the liquids into the dry ingredients with a rubber spatula, blend in cranberries and nuts and fill everything into the baking tin. Bake at 375°F on the middle rack for about 30 Minutes, than lower heat to 350°F. Bake another 30 Minutes, until no dough gets stuck on a pin, while you check whether it’s done.

Let cool on a rack and serve.
